Host your site where your visitors are: Neleto now runs in Europe, the US and Asia
When you create a Neleto site, you can now choose where it's hosted: Germany, the United States or Singapore. Here's what that means for your site and how to pick the right region.
Until now, every Neleto site ran on servers in Germany. That works well if your visitors are in Europe. If they're in New York or Singapore, every page has to cross an ocean first.
Starting today, you choose where your site lives.
Three regions to choose from
When you create a new site, you'll see a new Region option:
- Europe (Germany): our data centers in Nuremberg and Falkenstein
- United States: Ashburn (Virginia) and Hillsboro (Oregon)
- Asia (Singapore)
Pick the region closest to most of your visitors. The shorter the distance, the faster pages load, especially on mobile connections.
Hetzner, a German company, runs the servers in every region. Choosing the United States or Asia doesn't put a US cloud provider in the chain. We've written before about why the operator matters more than where the rack stands.
Every plan has the region option, from Free to Enterprise. You pick it when you create a free site or check out a paid plan.
Which region should I pick?
A simple rule: host where your audience is, not where you are.
- Your customers are mostly in Germany, Austria, Switzerland or elsewhere in Europe? Stay with Europe (Germany). It's also the default.
- You sell mainly to customers in North America? Choose United States.
- Your audience is in Southeast Asia or Australia? Choose Asia (Singapore).
Your content, files, database and backups stay in the region you choose. If you pick the United States or Asia, that data sits outside the EU, and the EU standard contractual clauses cover the transfer. If your site has to keep its data inside the EU, choose Europe (Germany). Sites in that region run in Germany only. The details are on our trust page.
Nothing else changes
Choosing a region doesn't change how you work with Neleto:
- Your free
neleto.appsubdomain points to your site wherever it's hosted, and connecting your own domain works as before. - Every site gets its HTTPS certificate, in every region.
- The editor and the features are the same. The region only decides where your site runs.
What about my existing sites?
Your existing sites keep running in Germany, exactly as before. You don't need to do anything.
You choose the region when you create a site. If you'd like a site in another region, create a new one there.
More room as Neleto grows
Behind the scenes we've also rebuilt how we place sites on our servers. Neleto now keeps track of how much capacity each server has. When a region starts to fill up, new capacity comes online automatically. You won't notice, and you won't have to wait. A new site is ready quickly, whichever region you pick.
Try it
Create a new site in your Neleto console and pick the region that suits your visitors.
